Day 1 : Arrival in Antananarivo and road to the Water City

Meeting with our team in your hotel, presentation of your tour program and delivery of your travel documents. Then, departure for Antsirabe, discovery of the Central Highlands with their rice fields and red laterite brick houses. Crossing magnificent landscapes on a winding road lined with small waterfalls extending the view over enormous rice fields arranged in terraces. Lunch on the way. A small stop in Ambatolampy to discover the artisanal manufacture of casseroles and other aluminum items. Continuation of the road, you will appreciate the magnificent landscape, the rocks, the fertile plain with volcanic soil. Arrival in Antsirabe, visit of the two volcanic lakes of this city. Day 2 : Visit of the industrial city of Madagascar: Antsirabe

Chief town of the Vakinankaratra Region and the second largest city of Madagascar, Antsirabe offers many tourist attractions not to be missed for exploration. A stroll to meet the local population is also a must. After a few hours of walk, we arrive in the village of the blacksmiths. Their know-how was transmitted from father to son. The landscapes are serene and harmonious. The region remains apparently green all year round. When talking about the city of Antsirabe, you should not also miss the rickshaw ride, the visit of the lakes and the thermal water. You will be able to have fun, far from the daily stress and urban pollution. Life is calm and rhythmed by a cool climate. Finally, return to the hotel. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 3 : Drive to Andasibe for the visit of the Peyrieras reserve

After breakfast, take National Road N°2 to reach Andasibe. During the trip, stop in Marozevo to visit the Peyrieras reserve and there will be the opportunity to meet endemic species of chameleons. Continuation in the direction of Périnet. Arrival at the end of the afternoon, installation at the hotel. Dinner at the restaurant and night at the hotel.

Day 4 : Discovering the great lemurs of Madagascar

Day dedicated to the visit of the most accessible and unavoidable park. Guided tour of the reserve of Analamazaotra: a dense humid forest. This last conceals a great biodiversity that you will discover at each step to marvel and surprise you a little more… For the observation of the biggest living lemur of the planet, the Indri-indri, in its natural environment, and the other species of diurnal and nocturnal lemurs, frogs and reptiles that populate the park. In this park, the landscapes are spectacular and the local population is very welcoming. Lunch at the restaurant.
You will have the occasion to discover the private park of Vakôna: This reserve, very well-conceived, includes a small informal museum, a lake with crocodiles, various species of reptiles and batrachians, several endemic plants, a superb aviary and especially a “mini-park” with lemurs including several islands where various species of these prosimians are loafing around. You will travel by canoe from island to island, to get very close to the specimens of the park, which are partly tamed. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 5 : Discover the magnificent site “Ankanin’ny Nofy”

After breakfast, we will resume the road, still heading east towards Manambato. Then transfer by boat to Ankanin’ny Nofy. Lunch at the restaurant. Installation at the hotel. Dinner at the restaurant and night at the hotel.

Day 6 : Visit of Palmarium reserve in Ankanin’ny Nofy

After breakfast, departure for discovery. Morning dedicated to the visit of the Palmarium, a private natural reserve of great beauty. The Palmarium is located on a 50ha peninsula. Its location contributes to the charm of this reserve. You will discover there, quite exceptional things, about ten species of lemurs living in freedom and having taken the habit of living together, and a rare and endemic terrestrial and arboreal fauna. The diversity of the flora is abundant. Magnificent, this one is composed of orchids, palms specific to Madagascar, plants capable of resisting drought, impressive lianas, carnivorous plants, etc. Free afternoon at the hotel. Then you will make a night visit in the islet of Aye aye. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7 : Boat trip down the Pangalanes Channel to continue the adventure in Tamatave

Transfer by boat to Tamatave through the Pangalanes Channel. It is an impressive string of rivers and lakes, which run along the east coast of Madagascar, from Tamatave to Farafangana, on more than 660km, which makes it the longest Channel in the world! In places, the Channel is separated from the sea only by a narrow strip of sand or forest. It was fitted out for commercial navigation by General Gallieni from 1896 to 1904, in order to transport more easily the spices produced in the South-East of Madagascar to the port of Tamatave, further north. We cross the lakes Rasoabe, Rasoamasay and Ampitabe. The banks of the Channel are rich in aquatic flora: Ravinala (Emblem of the Malagasy nation), water lilies, eucalyptus, pandanus, elephant ears … Arrival at the river port of Tamatave, transfer to the hotel. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon, visit of the market and the port of the city of Tamatave. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 8 : Boat trip to visit the Plum Island

After breakfast, morning meeting at the port and 45min boat trip. Plum Island is a small desert island remarkable for its fauna and flora and the history of its lighthouse. Let’s not forget its marine aquarium. Picnic lunch. Return to Tamatave in the afternoon, you will visit the market and enjoy the sunset by the sea. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 9 : Road and expedition of the Manda Fort de Foulpointe

After breakfast, departure for the town of Foulpointe. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to take a few photo breaks. Arrival at this seaside resort, visit of the Manda Fort as surprising as it is with all its history. Stroll in dugout canoe to see starfish, sea snakes and their friends. Day 10 : Relaxation on the beautiful sandy beach of Mahambo before the boat trip to Sainte-Marie Island

After breakfast, departure for Mahambo to enjoy a little bit of the beach and the surroundings (you have to wake up early in the morning) before taking the boat. Reception by the hotel staff at the pier. The rest of your day is free. On Sainte-Marie Island, the setting is worthy of the most beautiful postcards. With its mangrove swamps, its magnificent lagoon and its expanses of white sand, you can feel like a Robinson as you set out to discover or simply take advantage of this stopover in Sainte-Marie to devote in the joys of idleness. Day 11-12 : Free stay in Sainte-Marie

These two days give you the opportunity to visit the island, to do many activities and to meet the inhabitants of Sainte Marie, to do dives, dugout canoe rides and enjoy swimming in the azure sea of the island.
Let yourself be amazed by its beauty, through its lush vegetation containing medicinal plants. Without forgetting the visit of the historical sites of the bay up to the waterfalls and the pirate cemetery and its history.

Day 13 : Return by boat to Tamatave and discovery of the Ivoloina Zoological Park

After breakfast, departure by boat to reach the town of Mahambo, the beautiful eastern beach. Then, you take the road about 80 km to reach Tamatave, the largest city in the eastern part of Madagascar. Arrival at destination, visit of the Ivoloina Park. In this zoological park, you will meet 13 species of lemurs, in captivity or in freedom, radiata and pryxis turtles as well as chameleons. It is the moment to discover the Aye aye, endemic and endangered species. Swimming under the waterfall and short hike to contemplate a wonderful landscape at the highest point of the park. During the late afternoon, you can enjoy the sunset at the seaside. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 14 : Return to Antananarivo

Departure early in the morning after your breakfast to reach the capital. You take the National Road N° 2, you will be amazed by the splendor of the landscape of the Eastern region. During your trip, you make a small stop for lunch in a restaurant. Then, the road continues to Antananarivo. Depending on the availability, possibility to visit the handicraft market to buy souvenir items. Installation at the hotel near the airport to have a moment of rest (Day use). Meeting and dinner with our team. Evening transfer to the airport to catch the return flight.
