This tour allows you to discover the east side of the Red Island. We will pass through the Andasibe National Park which is home to an exceptional diversity of flora and fauna. Orchids and other rare plants, many species of lemurs, reptiles, batrachians … this exceptional nature can be discovered on foot between waterfalls, rivers and rainforests. From Tamatave, the paradisiac island of Sainte Marie welcomes us. Beaches, coconut palms but also a very smiling population, the island is ideal for walks at sea as well as on land. Luxuriant, the different cultures such as coffee, cinnamon…, give it a sweet and singular flavour. Its great attraction from the end of June to mid-October is the arrival of the whales.

Day 2 : Drive to the Eastern Rainforest
After breakfast, you will leave the Highlands and head due east along a winding road towards Andasibe. Along the way, stop in Marozevo to visit the Peyrieras reserve and there will be the opportunity to meet endemic species of chameleons. Another small stop to discover a little bit the city of Moramanga and the museum. Lunch at the restaurant. Continuation in the direction of Périnet. Arrival at the end of the afternoon and installation at the hotel. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 3 : Discovery of the great lemurs of Madagascar
Day dedicated to the visit of the most accessible and unavoidable park. Guided tour of the Analamazaotra reserve: a dense humid forest. The latter conceals a great biodiversity that you will discover at each step to marvel and surprise you a little more… For the observation of the largest living lemur on the planet, the Indri-indri, in its natural environment, and other species of diurnal and nocturnal lemurs, frogs and reptiles that populate the park. An adventure, an expedition not to be missed, climate varying from humid East. The landscapes are spectacular and the local population very welcoming. Lunch at the restaurant.
You will have the opportunity to discover the private park of Vakona: This reserve, very well designed, includes a small informal museum, a lake with crocodiles, various species of reptiles and batrachians, several endemic plants, a superb aviary and especially a “mini-park” with lemurs including several small islands where ramble various species of these prosimians. We travel by canoe from islet to islet, to get very close to the specimens of the park, partly tamed. An unforgettable encounter even for the most skeptical. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 4 : Discovery of the magnificent site “Ankanin’ny Nofy”
After breakfast, back on the road, we still continue eastward to Manambato. Then transfer by boat to Ankanin’ny Nofy. Lunch at the restaurant. In the early evening, departure to discover the nocturnal animals of the locality. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 5 : Visit of the Ankanin’ny Nofy Palmarium Reserve
After breakfast, departure for discovery. Morning dedicated to the visit of the Palmarium, a beautiful private nature reserve. The Palmarium is located on a 50ha peninsula. This location contributes to the charm of this reserve. You will discover, quite exceptionally, a dozen species of lemurs living in freedom and used to live together, and a rare and endemic terrestrial and arboreal fauna. The diversity of the flora is splendid, this one is composed of orchids, palms specific to Madagascar, plants able to resist to drought, impressive lianas, carnivorous plants, etc… Picnic lunch. Lazing in the afternoon, down below, 30 meters, a white sandy beach and clear and safe waters for swimming. The site is called Ankanin’ny Nofy, which means “the nest of dreams”. A name that keeps all its promises. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 6 : Boat trip during the descent of Pangalanes canal to continue the adventure in Tamatave
Transfer by boat to Tamatave through the Pangalanes canal. It is an impressive string of rivers and lakes that run along the east coast of Madagascar, from Tamatave to Farafangana, over 660km, making it the longest canal in the world! In places, the canal is separated from the sea only by a narrow strip of sand or forest. It was fitted out for commercial navigation by General Gallieni from 1896 to 1904, in order to more easily transport spices produced in the South-East of Madagascar to the port of Tamatave, further north. We cross the Rasoabe, Rasoamasay and Ampitabe lakes. The banks of the Canal are rich in aquatic flora: Ravinala (Emblem of the Malagasy nation), water lilies, eucalyptus, pandanus, elephant ears … Arrival at the river port of Tamatave, transfer to the hotel. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon, visit of the market and the port of the city of Tamatave. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 7 : Departure from Tamatave to Sainte Marie, the island of pirates
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the El Condor ferry to Sainte-Marie Island: either go directly to the office and leave together with the El Condor bus or go directly to Mahambo to enjoy a little bit the beach and the surroundings (you have to wake up early in the morning) before taking the boat. Mahambo is about 80 km from Tamatave. Reception by the hotel staff at the pier. The rest of your day is free. On Sainte-Marie Island, the setting is worthy of the most beautiful postcards. With its mangrove swamps, its magnificent lagoon and its expanses of white sand, you can feel like a Robinson as you set off on a voyage of discovery or simply take advantage of this stopover in Sainte-Marie to indulge in the joys of idleness. Depending on your flight schedule, possibility to discover Malagasy handicrafts at the dam market. Dinner ofert and meeting with our team.
